If you want to experiment with home remedies for yeast infections, be prepared to do thorough research to find out exactly how to prepare the remedy.  Also, consult a qualified professional first before trying these, as your symptoms may mask other more serious conditions, which might not be detected whilst you are trying out different yeast infection home remedies, and go untreated. However, if you go ahead and use a home remedy, do so as soon as possible before the Candida infection worsens.bladder infection remedies

I’ve chosen a couple of the easiest home remedies for yeast infections that I would realistically make the effort for to go to my kitchen, take some food out of the fridge or cupboard, or go to my local supermarket or health shop for a couple of  specific items that I don’t have, to be able to make the concoctions – but not too many!

But, hey, as I love feeling independent and in control of my own body and health, and want to pass on to you what other health-conscious gals and guys have had success with let’s continue with:

Home Remedy Number Two:  Boric Acid, or borax as we know it. The scientific facts for using boric acid as a yeast infection home remedy make sense, in that when the vaginal pH balance is disturbed and changes from it’s normal acidic levels to become alkaline, the Candida albicans fungus starts to multiply out of proportion, resulting in the debilitating symptoms of vaginal itching, pain, male and female yeast infections, skin rashes, intestinal problems, and the many more uncomortable candidiasis symptoms. Boric acid balances out the pH towards the acidic side, and the candida fungus which grows in an alkaline environment, dies.

For this remedy you have to insert a capsule filled with more or less 600 mg of boric acid powder in a size “0″ capsule into the vagina every night for a week.

Still, borax is poisonous and if you’re not sure of what you’re doing, seek medical advice before you treat yourself with boric acid in this way. In addition, this home remedy for candida overgrowth is not recommended for pregnant women, and neither is the next, which is the tea tree oil one.

Home Remedy Number Three: Tea Tree oil. One recipe says that you have to apply tea tree oil to the vagina via some drops on a k-y jellied tampon. I know for a fact that it’s going to sting like hell if the undiluted tea tree comes into contact with the vulva;  another is to make a douching solution with rubbing alcohol. I have been using Tea Tree oil for many years and it is a fantastic antiseptic and anti-fungal oil for coughs, sores, cuts, warts and many other skin conditions. But I find it rather strong, and would recommend that you add some drops of the douching solution  (mix half teatree oil with half rubbing alcohol) – to use in a sitz bath as a home remedy for yeast infection instead.

Home Remedy Number Four:  Plain Yoghurt. This is one of the most common and well-known home remedies for yeast infections, gives good results and one that anyone can safely use. The friendly acidophilus bacteria found in natural yoghurt, without flavouring or sugar, kills the yeast bacteria. The active yoghurt cultures has to come into direct contact with the vaginal walls for it to be effective, and it can be done in three ways:

- inserting a tampon (cool off or freeze in fridge before use for extra soothing benefit) dipped into yoghurt into the vagina
- simply eating the natural yoghurt, or foods with it in
- buy pure acidophilus in powdered form at a health shop to be consumed for the same benefit.

There are many more home remedies for yeast infections that I will discover and investigate for you, and report on soon in Part 2.
